Maulana Abdul Aziz, the orator of the Lal Masjid (Red Mosque) in Islamabad, has said that the enforcement of Islamic Shari’a is necessary to overpower the current unrest in the country, according to an Urdu-language daily.
‘‘The rulers and political leaders should work for the willingness of Allah instead of the United States and resolve the problems of the masses instead of indulging in internal differences,” the militant cleric said.
According to a report in the Urdu-language newspaper Roznama Islam, he added, “General Pervez Musharraf and his cronies made history with their barbarism by unleashing cruelties on innocent boys and girls. Those who betrayed the Lal Masjid are facing defeat today while some are forced to live an insulted life abroad.”
Maulana Abdul Aziz’s statement General Musharraf’s order to take military action against armed female and male students of Maulana Abdul Aziz in the Red Mosque and its adjacent Jamia Hafsa madrassa in 2007.
