The Taliban in Afghanistan have killed a 75-year-old man, Juma Khan, on the alleged charge of spying for the government in the southern Paktika province, according to a Dari-language Afghan daily.
Dr. Abdul Wakil Mobarez, a Taliban spokesman in the province, claimed responsibility for Khan’s killing, saying that Juma Khan had confessed to his crime.
According to a report in the Dari-language newspaper Roznama Arman-e-Milli, Mukhlis Afghan, a spokesman for the provincial governor, expressed that the government was unaware of the incident but did say that the Taliban want to spread fear among the people with such acts.
