The Afghan interior ministry has announced that no one, including high-ranking Afghan and foreign officials, will have the right to use black-tinted windows for their vehicles in Kabul, according to a Pashtu-language Afghan news website.
The ministry said that the decision was made to reduce crime. Many recent crimes in Kabul were conducted by criminals travelling in vehicles with black-tinted glasses, according to a report on the Pashtu-language website larawbar.com.
The ban already existed but was not respected by high-ranking officials, warlords, parliamentarians and foreigners in Kabul.
