Taliban Pamphlets Warn Action Against Criminals

The Taliban has issued a pamphlet warning that action will be taken against people who are involved in criminal activities in the Hangu district of Pakistan’s North West Frontier Province (NWFP), according to an Urdu-language daily.

Copies of the pamphlet were distributed in the Hangu district.

According to a report in the Urdu-language newspaper Roznama Nawa-i-Waqt, the pamphlets warned that the Taliban Shura (executive council) has ordered that action be taken against anyone who poses as a member of the Taliban and takes money from the people.

Local Taliban commander Muhammad Nabi Hanafi and members of the Taliban Shura (executive council) said in the pamphlet, “It is the responsibility of religious scholars and Mujahideen to rise against the cruel, and cruelties and foil the plans of the evil forces.”

The pamphlet said: “Shari’a is the only system that protects the life, property and honor of people, but some Muslims are distancing themselves from the teachings of Islam, tarnishing the image of Muslims in the world.”
