Clerics Urge Pakistan To End Ties With Denmark And Norway, Call For Death Punishment For Blaspheming Prophet Muhammad

At a seminar in Peshawar, Islamic clerics urged the Pakistani government to expel Danish and Norwegian ambassadors from the country and to end diplomatic and trade ties with the two nations, according to an Urdu-language daily.

Speaking at ‘‘Hurmat-e-Rasool (the prophet’s honor)’’ seminar, the clerics condemned the publication of the controversial sketches of Prophet Muhammad by newspapers in Denmark and Norway.

The clerics said that the people of Denmark and Norway are insulting the prophet of Islam, according to a report in the Urdu-language newspaper Roznama Express.

The seminar was organized by Falah-e-Insaniat, a religious group.

According to the report, the clerics demanded that the Pakistani government pressure the United Nations to pass a resolution allowing for the death sentence to be issued to people in any part of the world who are found guilty of blaspheming Prophet Muhammad.
