Afghan House Condemns Holbrooke’s Anti-Pashtun Statement

Wolesi Jerga, the lower house of Afghan parliament, has condemned U.S. Special Representative to Afghanistan and Pakistan Richard Holbrooke’s statement that every Pashtun family has at least one member with Taliban links, according to a Pashtu-language daily.

In a statement, the Wolesi Jerga said that such words pose as interference in Afghanistan’s domestic issues.

According to a report in the Pashtu-language newspaper Wrazpanra Weesa, the statement added that Holbrooke’s remark oppose the national unity of Afghanistan and will damage the efforts of the international community, specially those of America, to bring stability to the country.

The Afghan Senate already condemned Holbrooke’s statement, describing it as irresponsible.
