Indian, Pakistani Delegations Hold Unofficial Talks In Bangkok

Indian and Pakistani opinion makers held unofficial peace talks in Bangkok on August 28-30 to find ways of resolving conflicts between the two nuclear-armed nations, according to a Pakistani daily.

Senior officials, including diplomats, foreign ministry officials, intelligence chiefs and top-ranking members of the armed forces, academics, journalists and political leaders from India and Pakistan discussed bilateral disputes, including terrorism in Kashmir and Afghanistan.

According to a report in the Daily Times newspaper, these were the fifth round of the Chaopraya Dialogue – an unofficial process of talks between influential opinion leaders from the two countries.

The Pakistan delegation was headed by former Information Minister Sherry Rehman, while the Indian delegation was led by General (retired) Dipankar Banerjee, the report added.
