Lahore-Based Group Claims Successes Against Ahmadi Muslims
In a report originating from Lahore, Pakistan, an Indian Muslim organization claims that the Indian media helped it foil the annual congregation of Ahmadi Muslims at Qadiyan in northern India. According to the Pakistani newspaper Jasarat, Muhammad Usman Rahman Ludhianvi, the secretary-general of Ahrar-e-Islam Hind, which a group in India opposed to Ahmadi Muslims, telephoned Majlis Ahrar-e-Islam’s information secretary in Pakistan, Abdul Lateef Cheema, claiming that their efforts to foil campaigns by Ahmadi Muslims in India had concluded successfully. Ludhianvi said the Ahmadi Muslims wanted ‘‘to present before people [their founder] Mirza Qadiyani’s claim of false prophethood in the garb of Islam.’’ Jasarat added, ‘‘According to information received from the northern Indian city of Ludhiana, ongoing efforts by volunteers of the Tehreek-e-Khatm-e-Naboowat (Movement for the End of the Prophethood), a cell created by Majlis Ahrar-e-Islam, foiled attempts to organize congregations of the Qadiyanis, (Ahmadis) over the past years.’’ Source: Jasarat, www.jasarat.com, Pakistan, January 22, 2008
