Jamaat-e-Islami Women’s Leader: The West Wants To Weaken Our Family System
A leader of Jamaat-e-Islami (Women’s Wing) in Pakistan’s Sindh province has said the West wants to damage the family system in Muslim societies. The right-wing Urdu newspaper Jasarat quoted Ayesha Zaheer as saying the evil forces are targeting the women of Muslim societies in order to weaken their family system. Ms. Zaheer is also an elected councillor in the province of Sindh.
According to the report, she said the non-governmental organizations are working on the agenda set by the West and in the name of rights and progress have brought Muslim women out of their homes and made them stand side by side with men.
According to the report, the Jamaat-e-Islami leader said: ‘‘Our welfare lies in that we should strengthen the family front in order to foil the Western agenda.’’ Ayesha Zaheer was speaking with reference to the international women’s day.
According to another report, the Emir of Jamaat-e-Islami in Baluchistan province Maulana Abdul Haq Hashmi also said the Muslims’ family system ‘‘is now on the hit list of the West.’’ He said: ‘‘It is the responsibility of the Muslim woman to stop this family system from dissolving, which is a gift of Allah and by the attraction of which the Western woman is fast turning toward Islam.’’
