Taliban To Hold Jihad Conference In Pakistan’s Tribal District Of Mohmand Agency

The Movement of Pakistani Taliban has announced its plan to hold a conference of Ulema on Jihad at the shrine of local preacher Haji Sahib Turangzai in Pakistan’s tribal district of Mohmand Agency. Haji Turangzai was an Islamic preacher who also fought against the British in the early 20th century.

According to the report, since Haji Sahib Turangzai was known as ‘‘Ghazi Islam,’’ the two-day meet has been christened as ‘‘Ghazi Islam Conference.’’ Haji Sahib Turangzai’s shrine is in the Ghaziabad area of Mohmand Agency. No date was given for the conference.

The Urdu-language newspaper Roznama Mashriq reported that the conference will be on the subject of jihad in which Ulema will discuss Haji Sahib Turangzai’s contribution to Islam. According to the report, the meet will be of spiritual and jihadi nature in which the ground realities of jihad will also be highlighted.
