Prominent Islamic cleric Mufti Muhammad Naeem has accused President Pervez Musharraf of turning Pakistan into a colony of the U.S. and its allies. The Urdu-language newspaper Roznama Jasarat quoted Mufti Naeem as saying that Musharraf’s policies turned Pakistan into a colony of the U.S. allies who do not want peace in the country.
Mufti Naeem is the head of Jamia Binoria Al-Alamiya, a federation of Islamic seminaries in Pakistan.
According to the report, Mufti Naeem said the recent attack from an unmanned drone in the federally-administered tribal district of Bajaur Agency was a continuation of Musharraf’s policies. He asked the government of Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani to abandon the Musharraf-era policies and get rid of President Musharraf.
