The British government has said that 50,000 people are converting to Islam every year in the United Kingdom. The Urdu-language newspaper Roznama Jasarat quoted U.K. Home Secretary Jaqui Smith as saying that the number of people who converted to Islam since 2001 stands at about 400,000.
